A 78-year-old man has been charged with historical child sex offences after a months-long investigation into alleged assaults between 1980 and 1990.

A 78-year-old man has been charged with historical child sex offences after a months-long investigation into alleged assaults on New South Wales’ Mid-North Coast.
Police launched an investigation as part of Strike Force Franbach into multiple reports of alleged historical sexual assaults which occurred in Bellangry, approximately 50km west of Port Macquarie.
The alleged assaults occurred between 1980 and 1990, according to police.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Police conducted a search warrant at a property on Mitchell Street, Stockton, on September 24, where the 78-year-old man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.
“During the search, police seized a number of items which have been taken for forensic examination,” a statement said.
The man was charged with 21 offences, including six counts of aggravated sex assault while the victim was under authority of the offender, and four counts of sexual assault (indecent act) with a person under 16 years.
Charges also included three counts of inciting a person under 16 to commit an act of indecency, two counts of sexual assault of a person under 16, and two counts of committing an act of indecency with/towards a person under 16 (DV).
The 78-year-old was refused bail during a court appearance on September 25, and will appear before the Port Macquarie Local Court on November 19.
