Sydney Airport lockdown: Man arrested after AFP firearm discharged inside domestic terminal
The domestic terminal at Sydney Airport was placed into lockdown after a man reportedly attempted to take a weapon from an Australian Federal Police officer.
The Australian Federal Police has confirmed an incident took place on Wednesday morning.
“The AFP can confirm a man has been arrested at Sydney Airport this morning, after a police firearm was discharged inside the terminal,” an AFP spokesperson said.

A Sydney Airport spokesperson confirmed they were assisting the Australian Federal Police (AFP) following the incident.
Video obtained by 2GB showed a man pinned to the floor by at least two other men, with an AFP officer holding a rifle kneeling on the floor next to the group.

“No injuries occurred as a result of the incident,” they said.
“An arrest has been made, and the airport is operating normally.”
The lockdown has now been lifted and there have been no delays as a result of the incident.
An investigation into the incident has been launched and a crime scene has been established.
There is no ongoing threat to the public, the AFP confirmed.
