Emergency services have launched an urgent search to rescue a young man who is believed to be trapped inside a car submerged in a weir.

An urgent search is underway to rescue a young man who is believed to be trapped inside a car submerged in a weir in Sydney’s south on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services rushed to Royal National Park about 1.15am after reports a car had left the road and gone into the water at Audley Weir.
Police said a passenger — a man believed to be in his 20s — became trapped in the car, prompting a multi-agency search operation.

“A multi-agency search operation has commenced to locate the passenger with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit and Marine Area Command,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Police have established a crime scene and investigation into the incident have commenced.”
Motorists are urged to avoid the area as Audley Road at Audley Weird in the national park has been closed in both directions.
