Greig was arrested after handing himself into police shortly after 4pm.
He fronted Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday, when it was heard the teen had left his group of mates by the Maldon Weir, and came across a red Hyundai.
The teenager tried to get inside the car, in which Greig and a woman were sitting, telling them “I’m trying to get home”.
Greig then allegedly turned on the boy, producing a large knife and stating: “I’ll get you good. I’m gonna chop your hand off.”
Greig then allegedly slashed the teen on the forearm, before speeding off in the Hyundai.
Isaac crawled 30m into bushland but had bled to death by the time his mates found him the next morning.
A GoFundMe campaign organised for Isaac’s family remembered the teen as a “bright, kind-hearted 15-year-old boy whose life was taken far too soon”.
“Isaac was a beloved son, brother, and friend.
“His life (was) full of promise and potential.
“Isaac’s family never imagined they would be in a position like this, and their strength and love for Isaac is unwavering, but they need the support of their community during this incredibly difficult time.
“Rest in peace, Isaac. You will never be forgotten. Forever young — Forever 15.”
Isaac’s friends described him as a loving, selfless boy.
“He was the type of kid who would give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it more,” his friend said.
“You left a hole in my heart.”
Outside court, Greig’s lawyer Javid Faiz told 7NEWS that if his client was found guilty there is “a likelihood of a lifetime imprisonment”.
Greig’s family said they were willing to put up $100,000 to release him on bail, arguing he was the sole provider for a four-year-old boy and his wife, who is due to give birth next month.
His bail bid, however, was refused.
Greig is next scheduled to appear in court via audio-visual link on January 8.
