Tweed Heads: Thief pours fuel on counter of jewellery store and threatens to light it during alleged robbery
A man has terrorised staff at a jewellery store after pouring fuel onto the counter and threatening to light it during a robbery.
The alleged thief has been charged after the robbery at a jewellery store on the north coast of NSW.
At about 11am on Friday, emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Minjungbal Drive, Tweed Heads South, following reports of the robbery.

The man allegedly fled the store with jewellery and cash.
No fire was lit and no injuries were reported, but the man was pursued by members of the public, including two off-duty Queensland police officers, who arrested him as he attempted to enter a vehicle on Minjungbal Drive.
The vehicle, a red Hyundai i30 hatchback with QLD plates – believed to be driven by a woman – was last seen heading west along Machinery Drive.
Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District took the man, aged 28, to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Saturday.
