Police shoot two people as allegedly stolen car driven at them in Sydney
Two men have been shot by NSW Police officers in Western Sydney, sparking a critical incident investigation.
Police said officers were called to reports of a stolen vehicle in Lane St, Wentworthville on Friday.

Officers who arrived at the underground carpark of a unit block says the vehicle was allegedly driven at them.
Officers then shot at the two men inside the stolen car, injuring both of them.
The police administered first aid as paramedics were called in about 12.40pm.
The men were taken to Westmead Hospital, where one is reported to be in critical condition and the second is in a serious but stable condition.
The police officers were not injured.
“A critical incident team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad with the assistance of South West Metropolitan Region will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NSW Police said.
“The investigation is also subject to an independent review.”
Locals told 7NEWS they heard gunshots followed by loud screaming on the usually quiet street.
“I was in my room ... and I head big gunshots ... like five gunshots ... I thought ‘Is this real?’,” one person said.
“I heard very big screaming as well.
“Emergency services came in quickly ... there were, like, 20 police cars.”
McKeown said the car was stolen during a break-in at her home on Thursday night.
“Last night my home was broken into and my husband’s car stolen. I reported this to police,” the MP said in a statement.
“While I am shaken from the events, thankfully I am unharmed.
I want to thank NSW Police, in particular the local area command at both Penrith and Cumberland Police for their prompt response.
“Political leaders often praise police for their bravery. Today, I have had a first-hand experience of this.”
Police Commissioner Karen Webb is expected to address the media this afternoon.
