A woman is fighting for life and four others have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Sydney’s southwest.

A Toyota Kluger and a Mitsubishi vehicle collided at the traffic light intersection of Bringelly Rd and Edmondson Ave, Leppington about 9.15pm Friday, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 57-year-old woman, was trapped in the wreckage for a short time before emergency crews were able to get her free.

Paramedics treated her before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Her passengers, a 63-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, were taken to Westmead Hospital for further assessments.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 26-year-old woman, and her 27-year-old female front passenger were also taken to Liverpool Hospital for further assessment.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
