Woolloomooloo: Three injured before police taser man using scissors to stab pedestrians in Sydney

Pedestrians in one of the busiest areas of the Sydney CBD has been terrorised by a man using a pair of scissors to stab at least three people before he was tasered by police.

The man has been charged following an alleged assault with a pair of scissors in the inner city on Wednesday afternoon.

At about 3:30pm, emergency services were called to William Street, Woolloomooloo, following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Kings Cross police area command were told three people had been assaulted, each suffering bleeding and bruising.

Police were told the man had also allegedly damaged multiple parked cars on Crown Street.

Police found the man nearby allegedly armed with a pair of scissors. and a taser was used to effect the arrest of the 34 -year-old.

The scissors were seized by police and the the man was taken to hospital under police guard.

Following his release from hospital he was taken to Kings Cross police station and charged with 14 offences including: Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (two counts), trespassing, destroy property (four counts), shoplifting, custody of a knife in a public place, assault, armed with intent to commit an indicatable offence, intimidate police officer in execution of duty (two counts) and threaten injury to person with intent to prevent lawful detention.

The man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court, where bail was formally refused, and he will appear before the same Court on Friday.
