Yamba light plane crash: Pilot dead and passenger rushed to hospital with serious injuries
A man has died and another has been taken to hospital after a light plane crash in northern New South Wales.
Emergency services were called to Palmers Island, about 8km west of Yamba, at 11.20am on Sunday on reports of a recreational aircraft crash.
The pilot was declared dead at the scene.

His passenger, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Gold Coast Hospital.
Officers attended the crash site and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the scene.
