Fans queued to take selfies with the The US host and television producer, with one fan even making a sign that read ‘Oprah plz buy me a car’ referencing the iconic moment in 2004 when Ms Winfrey gifted a Pontiac G6 sedan to every single member of her studio audience — a total of 276 people.

Ms Winfrey laughed off the request and took a selfie with the lucky fan instead.

“You get a selfie! ...but not a car,” she said.

Ms Winfrey’s arrival in Sydney marks the first time in 10 years that the talk-show sensation has arrived in Australia. She touched down on Monday, a few days before the first stop in her Australia and New Zealand tour, Oprah In Conversation: Presented by Lilly tour.

Fronted by Australian media icon Melissa Doyle, the tour gives audiences a rare, close-up portrait of the woman who transformed the talk-show landscape.

The US star shared her excitement to be returning to Australia with fans on social media, urging audience members to bring their loved ones along to her shows.

“Can’t wait to be back in Australia and New Zealand for the first time in 10 years! Bring your friends, cousins, siblings—everybody!” she said.

In a video on social media she gave some hints about what may be covered at the shows.

“I can’t wait to share stories and reflect on what matters most to all of us, and hopefully inspire you to embrace your own path.”

Ms Winfrey is a long-established television host, producer and media executive. She presented The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 years, shaping it into one of the most-watched talk programs on US television and later expanding her work into film, publishing and streaming.

The In Conversation tour starts in Sydney on December 4, then continues to Adelaide on December 6, Brisbane on December 8, Melbourne on December 11, finishing up in Auckland on December 14.
