Child murderer Aymen Terkmani attacked and stabbed to death in Lithgow jail

A despised child murderer serving at least three decades in jail has reportedly been attacked and killed in a NSW correctional facility.

Aymen Terkmani who was found guilty of the brutal sexual assault and bashing murder of 16-year-old Mahmoud Hrouk in an empty house in the western suburbs of Sydney, was found in his cell with stab wounds before his death.

Lithgow jail was in lockdown after the attack on Wednesday in which Terkmani was stabbed multiple times.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that prison guards performed first aid on Terkmani and called for an air ambulance to transport him to hospital, but he succumbed to the injuries during the flight.

The 31-year-old was jailed for a minimum of 33 years for the murder of Mahmoud Hrouk in 2015, in which he lured his victim to a vacant home in Sydney’s west and sexually assaulted him, before bashing him to death.

NSW police said Terkmani’s death had sparked a major investigation, being overseen by the state crime command’s homicide squad.

“About 2.45pm on Wednesday, police were called to a correctional facility on Great Western Highway, Marrangaroo, following reports of a concern for welfare,” the statement read.

“On arrival, officers attached to Chifley police area command were told a 31-year-old male prisoner was suffering from a stab wound in his chest.

“The man was treated by medical staff at the correctional facility before being airlifted to a hospital however he died on the way to the hospital.

“The facility was locked down and a crime scene has been established.

“Detectives from Chifley police district, with assistance from Homicide Squad, have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”
