Domestice violence call leads to 88-year-old man being charged with attempted murder in Adelaide

A domestic violence incident over the weekend has led to an 88-year-old man being charged with attempted murder in Adelaide.

The man was arrested and later charged after police responded to calls at a property at Wingfield on Saturday.

At about 12.30pm, police patrols attended a Fourth Street home and found an 85-year-old woman who had been assaulted. She was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

The incident is not considered random and those involved are known to each other.

An 88-year-old man was arrested at the scene without incident and following investigations has been charged with attempted murder.

The man remains in hospital for medical treatment. A court date is yet to be determined.
