A third vehicle that was travelling behind the Silver Kia was struck by debris caused from the crash.

Upon arrival the driver of the silver Kia, a 58-year-old Ooralea man, was initially treated for serious injuries but was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the black Holden, a 35-year-old Hay Point man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital. He is currently assisting police with investigations.

Forensic crash unit investigations remain ongoing with investigators appealing to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
