One person has died after a serious truck accident on Brisbane’s Gateway Motorway, with the crash causing 19km of congestion and traffic delays of over an hour.

The fatal incident occurred just after 5am on Monday near the Old Cleveland Road on ramp in Belmont.

Two northbound lanes are currently closed, with diversions being put in place. Motorists have been warned to expect delays of up to 90 minutes.

Multiple paramedics attended the single-vehicle incident and the Forensic Crash Unit remain at the scene.

Queensland Police are urging for motorists to avoid the area or expect heavy delays.
