Brisbane: Worker crushed to death, teen trapped on construction site after wall gave way

A worker has died, and a teenager is seriously injured after a retaining wall collapsed during peak hour at a construction site in Brisbane’s West End.
The incident occurred just before 8.30am on Boundary Street, where two workers, aged 45 and 19, were on site when the wall suddenly gave way.
The younger worker was trapped under heavy blocks of concrete, pinned by his legs.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Firefighters used special airbags to carefully lift the concrete and free the injured man in a rescue operation that lasted over 90 minutes. He was then taken to hospital in a stable condition with serious leg injuries.
Tragically, the second worker died at the scene.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has launched an investigation into the incident while police are preparing a report for the coroner.
