First responders treated her at the scene but she could not be saved, Queensland Police said.

A 51-year-old man known to the woman allegedly fled the property in a car before police arrived.

Just 15 minutes later the same car collided with a truck on the Bruce Hwy at Sandy Pocket, according to authorities.

“The truck driver was not physically injured but the man in the vehicle allegedly fled the scene,” police said.

The highway was closed as police searched for the man, who is accused of trying to steal another car from a woman nearby. She was not injured.

Police were able to make an arrest near the highway at Sandy Pocket just after 6pm.

There is no ongoing threat to the community and a homicide investigation is now underway.

No charges have been laid.
