Gold Coast police shoot dead wanted man after frightening confrontation in Arundel

Police have shot dead a wanted man near a Gold Coast College after a frightening confrontation.
Officers attended Cavalry Court in Labrador at 8.15am after the man, who was wanted police, was spotted.
Queensland Police say he brandished a firearm before fleeing in a stolen vehicle, which later came to a stop on Brisbane Road in Arundel, near A.B.. Paterson College, around 9.30am.

Police say medical assistance was immediately given and paramedics attended the scene but the man could not be saved.
“This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command, with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission,” police said in a statement.
