Due to the difficult terrain, paramedics struggled to reach the man on foot.

“The rescue was a multi-agency, three-hour effort which included four Queensland Fire Department teams, SES volunteers, Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and Queensland Police officers,” a LifeFight spokesperson said.

The man was treated “under torchlight” for suspected spinal and back injuries before a rescue helicopter was able to winch him out.

He was flown to the Sunshine University Hospital in a stable condition.
