A man has died from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a parked car as a result of a ute crash on a Sunshine Coast street.

The 27-year-old man was reportedly working as a gardener for Sunshine Coast Council when he was struck on Brisbane Rd in Mooloolaba about 11.30am on Friday.

The car that struck him was one of five vehicles slammed into by a ute towing a caravan.

He suffered critical injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

He was transferred to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Police have launched a forensic crash investigation.

Any witnesses have been asked to come forward.

Sunshine Coast Council has been contacted for comment.
