‘Miracle cat’ Pablo survives full washing machine cycle on the Gold Coast
They say cats have nine lives, but Pablo might have more.
The nine-month-old Burmese kitten has defied all odds after surviving a full 55-minute cycle inside a front loader washing machine on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Sha ran the machine ran a cold, soapy 55-minute cleaning cycle with no clothes inside.
Pablo was found in a critical condition.

He was rushed to SASH Animal Hospital and placed in the care of Dr Ella Yarsley.
“He had brain injury, lung injury,” Yarsley said.
“(He) was probably in the most dire condition I’ve seen in a case in a long time.
“Not many have seen cats go through a whole cycle and survive.”
She Yarsley called the kitten’s survival “pretty close to a miracle”.

Veterinarians said while Pablo’s case is extraordinary, household appliances can pose hidden dangers for curious cats as washing machines are a popular hiding spot and a quiet place to nap.
Thanks to SASH, Pablo is “almost back to full health.”
