Mother of baby burned in Brisbane’s Hanlon Park coffee attack shares update
The mother of a baby burned in a horrific Brisbane park attack has shared an update, almost a week after the incident.
The mother and her nine-month-old son were enjoying a picnic with another mother and her child when an unknown man approached them and poured hot coffee on the little boy at Hanlon Park in Stones Corner, about midday last Tuesday.
The baby suffered serious but non-life-threatening burns to 60 per cent of his body including his face, upper body and arms.

“(He) has been incredibly resilient,” she said.
“He’s up and about, walking and causing chaos.
“He is such a strong little boy and we are so so proud of him.
“This horrific event should have never happened. Hopefully one day justice will be served.”
The attack was dubbed “callous and cowardly” by Queensland Police, and the man allegedly responsible is still out in the community.
The man, who is believed to be about 30 to 40 years old, is pictured wearing a black hat, glasses, a blue check shirt and cargo shorts.
He is described as having a proportionate build and tanned skin.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
‘Blown away by all the support’
The mother went on to thank the community for its support “from the bottom of our hearts”.
“We would like to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity during such a difficult and traumatic time for us,” she wrote on her social media.
“We have been blown away by all the support, both with donations and those reaching out with words of encouragement.”
More than $100,000 raised through a GoFundMe campaign will be used to support her son with his ongoing care, “which is truly a weight lifted off our shoulders”, she said.
“Not only that it will also support myself, my family and (my friend’s) ongoing mental health needs, given the nature of the event this will be an extremely long journey ahead for us all.”
