Police probe ‘hooning’ link after mum of four killed in Logan crash
Police are investigating whether a ute involved in a crash that killed a mother of four in Queensland was at a large hooning event only hours earlier.
Police are probing whether a ute involved in a crash that killed a mother of four was present at a large hooning meet on the same night.
The silver Ford Falcon ute collided with a Ford Focus hatchback on School Road in Logan Reserve, south of Brisbane, about 9pm Saturday.
A 51-year-old Victorian mother of four, who was travelling in the passenger seat of the hatchback, died at the scene.

The hatchback driver, a 28-year-old woman believed to be the niece of the deceased, was treated for injuries to her hips, legs and back. A two-year-old girl travelling in the Ford Focus also suffered injuries.
Police say the driver of the ute, a 17-year-old from Logan Reserve, was also not injured.
Queensland Police Acting Inspector Peter Venz said on Sunday that police were monitoring a “large-scale hooning event” that was held prior to the collision.
While he would not confirm the Ford Falcon was present at the hoon meet, Inspector Venz said police were investigating a potential link.
“There was a very large-scale hoon event, organised last night,” Inspector Venz said.
“Police were well-prepared for this hoon event.
“I won’t comment as to whether this vehicle is linked to the hooning event, but that will form part of our investigation.”

Inspector Venz offered condolences to the family of the woman killed in the “tragic and avoidable incident”.
“As far as I’m aware the (Ford Falcon) was not stolen,” he said.
“There are reports the vehicle had no number plates on and was possibly unregistered.”
Inspector Venz said passengers travelling in the ute were “ejected from the vehicle” and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“The 17-year-old female driver of the utility was transported to Logan Hospital, where police have taken blood samples of that driver to test for any substances that may be on board,” he said.
“It’s all good fun until a tragic incident occurs.”
No charges have been laid.
Police are urging anyone who saw the ute prior to the crash to come forward as investigations are ongoing.
