The Queensland teacher accused of behaving like a cat in her classroom has denied the allegation she ever identified as a feline.

7NEWS can reveal the Marsden State High School teacher denies the allegations that were levelled at her from a small group of parents who claimed she had hissed at students and walked on all fours.

7NEWS has been told the school investigated the teacher and found no evidence of inappropriate behaviour and now stands by her.

The separate claim that the teacher had asked students to call her Miss Purr was also disputed and was actually done because her initials are P.R.R.

The Queensland Teachers’ Union is also standing by the teacher and looking into social media posts.

The initial claims were first reported by the Courier Mail on Sunday.

Marsden High School is in the city of Logan, south of Brisbane’s CBD.

The school says on its website it now has a cohort of more than 3500 students.

The Department of Education earlier said it was aware of the complaints and the teacher was being spoken to by the principal.

“The school is aware of parents’ concerns and the principal has addressed the issue directly with the teacher,” Queensland Department of Education told 7NEWS earlier this week.
