Two men are fighting for life after a serious crash on a major Queensland highway.

Paramedics treated a man aged in his 20s, with life-threatening head and arm injuries.

Another man, aged in his 70s, is being treated for life-threatening head injuries. Both men were airlifted to hospital.

A third man in his 40s is believed to be in a stable condition with an arm injury.

A fourth patient, whose age and gender are unknown, was also treated in a stable condition and complaining of pain.

Two cars are believed to have crashed with a truck on the Bruce Hwy at Bloomsbury, south of Proserpine, about 3pm on Thursday.

Queensland Ambulance said emergency services personnel rescued a man trapped in one of the cars.

Queensland Traffic advised the road was closed to all traffic, in all directions, on the Bruce Hwy.
