Rain, storms and flash flooding predicted to hit large parts of Australia in coming days
As the system moves, it will cause downpours, storms and possible flash flooding.

Australia is set to cop wild, wet and stormy weather predicted to impact almost all states and territories in the coming days.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of a stormy few days ahead for large swaths of the country as a large low pressure system builds over eastern Western Australia.
Senior meteorologist David Crock said the system is currently producing plenty of rain and storms through the deserts of eastern Western Australia and western South Australia, before it’s forecast to impact parts of southern Northern Territory later on Sunday, including parts of Alice Springs.

“It’s a pretty big system which is drawing in moisture from the Indian Ocean,” Crock said.
“So it’s going to bring quite a bit of rain, basically to every state and territory over the next three days or so.”
South Australia
Crock said the focus on Monday is very much South Australia, with the low pressure system tracking along the coastline, bringing rain to most of the state as well as storms.
“The centre of the low pressure system itself, potentially probably the highest impact for South Australia tomorrow, will be over the Eyre Peninsula and the Yorke Peninsula and then towards Adelaide and the Hills late tomorrow,” Crock said.
Rain bands could produce between 30mm to 50mm across parts of South Australia through Monday and into early Tuesday morning.

“Those areas are quite wet already. They’ve had quite a bit of rain in recent weeks and months,” he said.
“So impact from that could be some pretty quick flash flooding and quite a bit of rain lying around on the ground for a while there.”
VIC, NSW, QLD
The system is then expected to move eastward towards Victoria, New South Wales and southern Queensland late on Monday, with wild weather in the eastern states ramping up on Tuesday.
Crock said parts of VIC could see 40mm to 60mm of rain or more during Tuesday, with concerns on areas of Northern VIC from previous rain events, with more flood warnings likely.

“(The rain) will put plenty more water in those river systems that flow into the Murray,” he said.
“There’s kind of rain across pretty much all of Victoria on Tuesday.”
The System will bring a risk of severe thunderstorms during Tuesday through northern VIC, much of western NSW and even up into southern Queensland.

“Severe thunderstorms which could bring particularly heavy rain, but then also damaging winds as you head through that north as well,” Crock said.
By Wednesday the low pressure system will move out into the Tasman Sea, but continue to bring plenty of rain and storms to parts of the eastern half of NSW and up into southern and south-east Queensland.
