Scone e-bike fatality: Driver charged over deadly crash with utility and electric bike

A driver has been charged over a fatal collision between his utility and an e-bike, that left a 22-year-old rider dead in Scone.
NSW Police revealed on Wednesday that a 56-year-old man had been charged with negligent driving over the fatal crash earlier this year.
During the incident on 10.15am, Tuesday 17 February, 2026, paramedics were called to Liverpool St in Scone following reports of a crash between an e-bike and a ute on the driveway of a property.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Scone Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and inquiries into the crash commenced by officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District.
On Sunday 6 September 2026, officers served a future court attendance notice on the man for negligent driving (occasioning death).
He is due to appear before Scone Local Court on Wednesday 11 November 2026.
