“You want to f******* go b***h? You want to f****** go? You ever f******* talk to my daughter again.”
Speaking to 7NEWS exclusively on Wednesday, the mother claimed it was her daughter being relentlessly bullied at St Paul’s College, in the Adelaide suburb of Gilles Plains, that drove her to act.
“(The bullying) has been going on for more than 12 months”, the mother said.
“I did everything in my power as a parent and so did my husband to make sure our daughter was safe, especially dropping her off at school.
“The school has been negligent on their behalf, they have not done, what they said (they’d) do. They have ignored all aspects about what we stated about the bullying with our daughter.”
The mother said she had reached a tipping point, and that she wasn’t usually the type of person who lashed out.
But seeing the toll the bullying had taken on her daughter and the family, the mother felt compelled to take action.
“What everyone has seen of me is not who I am as a mother or as a person,” she said.
“It was a mother that was distraught, at seeing her 13-year-old daughter being bulled for an immense amount of time. “
The mother said her daughter’s mental health had drastically deteriorated and had driven her to self-harm.
“It has been extremely difficult, we have had suicide attempts, we’ve had our daughter refuse to go to school,” she said.
“To see the physical effects it’s had on her mental health is destroying us as a family.”
On the day of the incident, the mother said her daughter came home early from school deeply upset, after a student had told her to go kill herself.
“I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant, and I was unwell, and I was at home, and my daughter had come in and stated, she was crying, she was devastated, that this child had told her to hang herself,” the mother said.
“That is a breaking point for any parent, she is our world, all our children are our rocks and to see and hear the pain and anguish in her voice, I went into survival mode, and protective mode. I did let loose, unfortunately was a side, I don’t show very often. But that was a tipping point for that day.”
The mother apologised for her actions.
Both parents of the bullied teen have since received an email from St Paul’s informing them that they have “breached the parent code of conduct’”.
They are now barred from stepping onto school grounds, and their daughter has been suspended from attending St Paul’s College while the matter is being investigated.
