Phil said the suspect boarded the train with a bottle of alcohol, had an argument with two people, then turned his attention to him and allegedly called him a “racist pig”.

“Then he spat blood and all that in my face,” he said.

John, 89, alleged he was also called a racist then hit.

A 27-year-old Elizabeth Downs who was arrested at the scene will face numerous charges including assault, police said.

Police said he will also be issued a transit barring order.

The train has since resumed normal service.
