Police searching for missing man in his 70s after his boat is found washed up on Kingston Beach, Tasmania

A “significant” search is underway for a missing Tasmanian man after his boat was found washed up on beach near Hobart.

The white flybridge cruiser with a small inflatable dingy attached was found on Kingston Beach about 2.05pm on Wednesday.

Police believe a man aged in his 70s boarded the boat at the Derwent Park Marina and left around 7am.

His family have since reported him missing.

“Yesterday police conducted a significant search of the area, utilising marine resources and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter,” Acting Inspector Peter Borish said.

Search efforts will be continued throughout Thursday.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
