A 20-year-old Smythes Creek man was allegedly shot in Melbourne’s CBD on Sunday morning.

CCTV footage captured several men near a car on Collins St, who were seen scattering when gun went off about 6.30am.

“There’s been some kind of conversation, between the occupants in the car and two males and at some time a firearm has been discharged hitting one of the males on foot,” Victoria Police said.

After the report of the alleged shooting, a dark-coloured Ford Territory drove towards officers patrolling the area.

This prompted one of the officers to draw their gun, police said.

The Ford Territory then fled the scene.

The Smythes Creek man, who had sustained a gunshot wound, then approached officers.

He was taken with non-life-threatening injuries to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police believe the people involved in the alleged shooting are known to each other.

The victim is not cooperating with detectives at this stage, police said.

The alleged offender remains on the run.

Police believe there were at least two people inside the Ford.

Investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
