At least one home has been destroyed, and another has suffered damage as a bushfire continues to rage out of control in Melbourne’s east.
The fire broke out at Dr Ken Leversha Reserve in Montrose about 2pm on Saturday, and had burned through 33 hectares by sunrise.
Forty fire trucks, with more than 100 firefighters, four helicopter water bombers, and two bulldozers, have been dispatched to the scene to help contain the blaze.

Another suffered “partial loss”, the State Control Centre told AAP.
The bushfire emergency warning was downgraded to Watch and Act about 3.30am for Kilsyth and Montrose.
Residents in nearby areas were warned on Sunday morning that while firefighters had managed to slow the fire’s spread, “the situation can change at any time”.
A Stay Informed warning was issued at 7.41am on Sunday for areas west of Liverpool Rd, north of Canterbury Rd, and east of Stradbroke Rd.

Vic Emergency said that people in this area will see significant smoke from the fire.
“The fire is unlikely to spread to these areas but people should stay informed,” the advise message reads.
Some residents were evacuated from a building around midnight as flames threatened nearby homes and properties.
Montrose, located about 33km east of Melbourne’s CBD, is renowned for its bushland terrain.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
All of Victoria is under a high fire danger rating on Sunday.
