Driver killed after car hits tree, rolls and burst into flames in Pootilla, Victoria

A female driver has been killed following a horrific car crash in rural Victoria.

Police are investigating the fatal crash in Pootilla in the early hours of Wednesday morning where it is understood the car was travelling along Ballarat Daylesford Road when it left the roadway and ploughed into a tree about 2am.

The impact forced the car to roll several times before it caught on fire.

Emergency services are reporting that the female driver died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
