Sole surviving lunch guest Ian Wilkinson has delivered a deeply emotional victim impact statement while facing Erin Patterson in court.
“I would like to begin with a few words about my beautiful wife, Heather,” Mr Wilkinson said, fighting back tears.
“She was a delightful person who loved sharing life with others.
“Like everyone else, she had faults, but she actively looked to overcome them so she could live peacefully with other people
“If she could help someone, she would. Heather had a great sense of humour, and it was a joy to be in her company.
“She was a wonderful wife,” he said, breaking down in tears.
Court resumes for Erin Patterson
Erin Patterson’s plea hearing has commenced at the Supreme Court of Victoria, with Ian Wilkinson set to give his victim impact statement first.

When will Patterson return to court?
Erin Patterson is scheduled to return to court at 10.30am AEST.
On Monday morning, Patterson departed the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre maximum security women’s prison, where she has been since her arrest, other than when she was staying in Morwell during the week for her trial.

Explosive new claims have emerged about Erin Patterson’s life behind bars, with a former cellmate of the convicted triple murderer painting a grim picture of her behaviour inside the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.
Patterson, 50, was found guilty in July of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, after serving a beef Wellington laced with deadly death cap mushrooms to members of her estranged husband’s family.
a former inmate who shared the unit with Patterson has come forward, revealing to news.com.au that the high-profile prisoner earned a reputation for being unpleasant, manipulative and antisocial.
“She is just a real rude b....,” the former inmate said bluntly.
“When she first moved to the Murray Unit (protection), girls would say hello to her and she would just ignore them.
“Any interactions she has with people, she tries to manipulate them and make them feel like s...,” she added.
Why is Erin Patterson back in court?
On Monday, triple murderer Erin Patterson returns to court, this time, at Victoria’s Supreme Court in Melbourne.
On July 7, a jury found Patterson guilty of intentionally poisoning her family members during a beef Wellington lunch. That meal killed her in-laws, Don and Gail Patterson, and her estranged husband’s aunt, Heather Wilkinson.
Ian Wilkinson, uncle of Patterson’s husband Simon, survived.
Patterson will hear victim impact statements in court, which will likely take up all of Monday’s court session, before Justice Christopher Beale hands down his sentence.
Patterson faces life in prison, however, she could be handed a minimum sentence of 30 years.
