Erin Patterson’s sentencing begins

Justice Beale has commenced his sentencing in the Supreme Courtof Victoria.

“Erin Patterson, after a long trial, during which you gave evidence that the poisoning of your four lunch guests on July 29 was an accident, the jury found you guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder,” he said.

“In other words, the jury necessarily found that you deliberately served poison meals to Gail and Don Patterson and Heather and Ian Wilkinson, and that you did so intending to kill them.

“Only Ian Wilkinson survived.

“The maximum penalty for murder is life imprisonment, and for attempted murder, 25 years imprisonment.

“Murder is also a standard sentence offence, and the standard sentence offence for murder is 25 years imprisonment.”

Erin Patterson’s sentencing is about to begin

The fate of triple murderer Erin Patterson will be revealed more than two years after she served a death cap mushroom-laced lunch that killed three people and drew international attention.

The 50-year-old is expected to be sentenced to life behind bars on Monday after she was found guilty of the murders of three of her guests.

Sentencing begins at 9.30am AEST.

Patterson’s lawyers have urged Justice Christopher Beale to show her mercy and give her a chance to be released back into the community.
