Geelong: Man arrested after woman’s body found at Eastern Beach
A man has been arrested after a woman’s body was found at a beach south-west of Melbourne.
The 49-year-old Springvale woman was found on the sand, near the children’s pool at Eastern Beach Pavilion in Geelong around 11.25am on Wednesday.
Tragically, it was a member of the public who made the discovery and alerted lifeguards, who then attempted CPR on the woman but were unable to revive her.

Later on Wednesday afternoon, a 53-year-old man was later arrested in Geelong’s CBD.
“Detectives believe the people involved are known to one another,” a Victoria Police statement read.
The man, who is of no fixed address, will be interviewed in relation to the woman’s death.
