Lucy Pristel choked back tears as she joined Nat and Shirvo on Sunrise on Thursday morning, speaking about Jack, who played on her son’s basketball team, coached by Jack’s dad, Mike.

“He’s just such a gorgeous boy — he loved his sport,” Pristel said of Jack.

“As you can see, by the tributes, there is balls, there is everything. He is just a gorgeous, gorgeous little boy who would do anything for anyone. He was such a sweet child.”

Nat asked if she had spoken to Jack’s mother.

“I haven’t — I have texted them and they have texted us,” she said.

“We just want them to do what they need to do, to be honest with you. All we want to do is let them know that we are so behind them and we support them any way that we possibly can.

“We just want them to know that they are so, so loved.”

Pristel has already raised $100,000 for the family via a GoFundMe and said she was hoping to ease their financial burden.

“I just don’t think that anyone ever plans for this. This is every person’s worst nightmare. We just want to ease it for them. So, we thought this was the best thing to do.”

Shirvo then asked how the other children were following the accident.

“To be honest with you, I think we are all very surprised at how amazing they are,” Pristel said.

“My son decided to go to school yesterday because he wanted to be with his mates, and they just wanted to just feel they were there for their friends.

“The school has been incredible. The support this they are giving the kids in terms of counselling and everything like that, there’s no words.”
