Two murders occurred within an hour of each other.

Two murder investigations are underway following the deaths of two people in Melbourne overnight.

A man and woman died in separate incidents, across the city from each other but within a similar time frame.

The man was found with critical injuries at a property on Iffla St in South Melbourne about 7.30pm on Friday.

He was pronounced dead at the property.

He is yet to be identified.

The woman’s body was found by Victoria Police, who were called to perform a welfare check at a home on Cowper St in Footscray about 8pm.

She is yet to be formally identified.

Victoria Police are investigating both incidents and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Investigators remain at the properties.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
