A teenager is dead, another has been arrested, and two more are in hospital in a serious condition after an allegedly stolen car rolled over “several times” on Friday morning in southwest Melbourne.

A 17-year-old boy, two 16-year-old girls and another teenage boy were driving in an allegedly stolen Skoda sedan just after 12am on Derrimut road at Hoppers Crossing while “pursuing another vehicle, in what appears to be an attempted carjacking,” Victoria Police alleged in a statement.

“The Skoda collided with the rear of that vehicle, a Toyota sedan, which managed to safely flee the scene. A short time later, the Skoda also collided with a Ford sedan and a Ford Ranger, causing the Skoda to roll several times.

The teenage boy died at the scene, while the 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl, both from Wyndham, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old girl has been arrested and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She has since been discharged and is expected to be interviewed by the police later on Friday morning.

All people travelling in the Toyota and both Ford vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Police allege the Skoda had been stolen from Yellow Box Street, Maidenstone, between Wednesday and Thursday.

Officers have appealed for dashcam videos and CCTV footage from the area.

Derrimut Road between Hogan and Heath Roads are likely to be closed in both directions until later on Friday.
