A woman is fighting for life after she reportedly strayed onto a major freeway and was hit by a b-double truck.

The woman’s injuries are listed as ‘life-threatening’ by police after she was hit by the truck in Werribee early on Monday morning.

The incident occurred after the woman reportedly pulled her car into an emergency stopping zone on the Princes Freeway shortly before 1am.

Police are stating that it is believed she then stepped onto the road and was hit by the truck.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition with severe leg injuries.

The male truck driver was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

Police will investigate to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
