A Bayside mother has narrowly escaped with her life after being hit by a stolen car allegedly driven by a 16-year-old boy.

A Bayside mother-of-two has narrowly escaped with her life after being hit by a stolen car allegedly being driven by a 16-year-old boy.

The Mercedes was allegedly speeding on the wrong side of the road when it crashed into the woman’s Volvo on the corner of Dendy St and Wells St in Brighton, Melbourne about 2.55pm on Monday.

She was taken to hospital and is “pretty sore” but “very fortunate”, her father Warwick Dean said.

“It’s horrific. I’m surprised that she’s not worse off,” Dean told 7NEWS.

“For bits of the axle and so forth to be ripped out is high-impact stuff.”

The stolen Mercedes flipped onto its roof and is now a write-off.

The mother in the Volvo had been going to pick up her children at school when the incident unfolded.

The Brighton crash ended an alleged rampage across Bayside, with the Mercedes allegedly stolen hours earlier from a home in Waterways.

The car had been specifically modified for the owner who lives with cerebral palsy.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

The teen was granted bail and will appear in court at a later date.

Two other teens are on the run.
