Tonimbuk: Helicopter winch rescue after Victorian man becomes stuck in mud while attempting to save cattle

Emergency services have come to the aid of a man stuck in mud in regional Victoria.

It has been reported that yesterday afternoon, at approximately 2.45pm, emergency services were called to the property on Bridal Road, 70km southeast of Melbourne.

The rescue comes after the 49-year-old man entered the dam and began to sink into the mud after he was attempting to save cattle at his property.

Police were assisted by Fire Rescue Victoria, Country Fire Authority (CFA) and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers, and Ambulance Victoria.

The police Air Wing attended and winched the 49-year-old man to safety.

The man was taken to the hospital for observation.
