Tragedy as 8yo boy confirmed dead after swimming pool drowning near Shepparton, Victoria

Tragedy has struck after a boy died following a reported drowning incident in rural Victoria.

Emergency services responded to a call at Kialla after reports the eight-year-old child had been found in a swimming pool and was unresponsive.

Paramedics arrived at the scene, about 10 minutes out of Shepparaton just before 7pm on Sunday, but after treating the boy he was unable to be revived and sadly died, a police statement said.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
