Woman under guard after police discover newborn baby with critical injuries left outside a home
Forensic police attended the scene after a baby was found with life-threatening injuries only hours after being born and a woman was detained.
Emergency services were called and discovered the newborn infant at around 2:40am outside a home on Gladstone Road in Dandenong North on the outskirts of Melbourne.
The child was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

It’s believed the baby had been born overnight.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” police said.
