Claremont Jetty incident: Driver involved in stand-off with police in western suburbs, public told avoid area
A man has been taken away in an ambulance after a tense stand-off with police that ended when he drove his car off a jetty, narrowly missing a water police boat.
A number of police resources were deployed to the scene on Wednesday morning when a man drove a red Jeep, suspected to have been earlier involved in a minor traffic collision, onto Claremont Jetty.
The police air wing and water police were deployed to the incident, with TRG officers also on the scene.

Just before midday the man reversed the car, which had been stationary on the jetty for some time, before driving into the direction of a water police boat.
The car then flipped off the jetty and landed in the water before police swarmed the vehicle.
The driver somehow managed to climb through a window of the car before climbing on top of the undercarriage.
And just before 12.15pm, multiple police officers jumped into the water before pulling the man back on the jetty.
He was then carried off the jetty by TRG officers before being loaded into a waiting ambulance.
