The ugly incident was sparked by a squabble over a parking spot.

McKenna, a father of two, admitted he snapped, striking Adams’ car with a metal object.

When Adams and his colleague got out of the car to confront him, McKenna retreated to his own vehicle and floored it in reverse, striking the landscaper who bent down to save his dog.

Adams’ head was sliced open and he fractured his spine, and spent almost a week in hospital.

“He split me through here, through the head,” he told 7NEWS.

“You know I should’ve been dead, I should’ve been dead or a cripple.”

McKenna admitted to the collision but tried to argue he did not deliberately set out to hit the victim.

The jury did not believe him, also finding him guilty of failing to stop and help Adams who was bleeding on the ground.

McKenna faces the prospect of 20 years in jail and will be sentenced in March.
