Two people have been killed by a tree falling onto their vehicle while driving on a rural road.

A 78-year-old woman and her 75-year-old male passenger were driving along Graphite Rd at Deanmill, a small town in Western Australia’s South West, when the tree fell onto their vehicle about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Volunteer firefighters and SES workers helped clear the tree and remove the two people from the vehicle.

Both occupants of the vehicle died from their injuries at the site of the incident.

WA Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Footage from dashboard cameras or mobile phones can be sent directly to investigators through the WA Police website.
