An elderly man has been floored by a stranger as he boarded a bus in Perth.

The victim received cuts and grazes during the incident, which resembled a heavy bump more commonly seen on the football field.

The 72-year-old was approaching the bus door on Hutton St, Osborne Park about 12.50pm on May 12 when a man charged into him, knocking him to the ground, security vision released by police showed.

The bus driver and passengers raced to help the man back to his feet.

“The offender boarded the bus and after a short time left the area on foot,” WA Police said in a statement.

Police described the incident as an assault and appealed for information about the other man involved.

They have since identified and located him, police said.

Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
