More than $400,000 in cash has been uncovered under the hood of an all-time classic arcade racer machine in Perth, according to WA Police.

It is alleged the huge cash haul — along with several rounds of ammunition and a handgun — was found hidden in a cavity when officers peeled back a portion of the Daytona USA gaming cabinet.

The search was triggered when the Gang Crime Squad conducted a traffic stop on Tonkin Hwy in Wattle Grove on Monday morning.

It is alleged $4,000 and an extendable baton were discovered in a black Silverado.

Just over an hour later, about 10am, police carried out simultaneous raids on a home and commercial property in Landsdale.

It was at the commercial premises where police say they found the Sega machine loaded with $400,000.

“A further search of the property yielded a second handgun, several more rounds of ammunition, explosive material and a bulletproof vest,” WA Police said.

A 39-year-old Rebels bikie club member has been charged with a number of serious offences including unlicenced possession of a firearm or ammunition, and dealing with money considered proceeds of an offence.

The Daytona USA arcade racing game, inspired by NASCAR, was released by Sega in 1994.

It gained popularity for its pick-up-and-play style, graphics, catchy soundtrack and the fun had through multi-player.

It remains popular in gaming dens and arcades the world over to this day.

One Australian seller has a two-player setup — complete with seating, wheel and gear stick — up for sale for $12,500.
