Stranger assaults child in mother’s arms in shocking attack at East Victoria Park shopping centre

The girl was in her mother's arms when a stranger punched the two year old in the face at a shopping centre in East Victoria Park.

A woman is wanted after attacking a toddler who was being held in her mother’s arms in Perth, police say.

Security vision showed the two-year-old girl being struck in the face at Park Centre in East Victoria Park about 1.25pm on Tuesday.

The child sustained “facial injuries”, police said.

“A female approached a mother who was holding her child, before assaulting the child and leaving the area,” police said.

“The female is not known to the mother and child.”

The woman had a medium build, a shaved head and was wearing a pink singlet, grey shorts with white stripes, and blue shoes.

Police are currently talking with shopkeepers and others who may have witnessed the incident.

One worker told 7NEWS they heard screams and people running over to help the mother.
