An Australia father has sacrificed his own life to save a German tourist from drowning in Bali.

Three men have died and another two were seriously injured when a car crashed into the back of a home in Perth’s south.

The Holden Colorado left the road and crashed into the rear-wall of a home that backs onto Orrong Rd, near the Roberts Rd intersection in Carlisle about 5.10am Saturday, police said.

Commander Mike Bell said six men aged between 19 and 34 were inside the vehicle, which was only seated for five occupants, when it left the road, struck a tree and then struck a brick fence and a house.

Three male passengers, one aged 34 and two in their early 20s, in the vehicle suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

Paramedics treated another two men for serious injuries and transported them to Royal Perth Hospital.

The 22-year-old male driver is assisting police with inquiries.

Bell said he returned a positive preliminary breath test and police were awaiting blood test confirmation.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, which Bell described as “carnage”, and said suspect some of the occupants were not wearing seatbelts.

Bell said it was a “devastating” reminder to slow down and drive to conditions.

“Three families that are receiving traumatic news today,” he said.

“There’s another two families who are hoping their children pull through, and of course there’s a driver whose life is going to change forever no matter what the outcome of this is.”

No occupants of the home were injured.

Emergency services remain at the crash site and members of the public are asked to avoid the area.

Orrong Rd is expected to remain closed between Francisco St and Archer St for several hours.
